recommend the best two channel mixer/switchbox (not for dj use)
I may buy myself a little mixer so that I can connect my balanced xlr outputs of my djm600 into and also my unbalanced outputs of my midiman card in my computer. The main output of this mixer (needs to be balanced) will then go into my monitors.
Any suggestions on one? I'm looking for the highest quality device within a reasonable price range. Failing that, how about a switch box designed for audio use which will switch from input 1 to input 2 (but again, one input is balanced and one unbalanced so I guess the box would incoporate a DI unit as well?)

sorry, maybe I should add what the point of this is so if you've got any better suggestions I may hear them. I want to simultaneously connect my computer (midiman unbalanced) and djm600 to my mackie hr624s. They don't have to both be active at the same time, but the manual clearly states not to use both inputs at the same time.

I'm not sure how strong your hatred for Stanton is, but I think this item should suit your needs pretty well:

Hey, got a non stanton solution for you. Samson C-CONTROL. It is a studio control box that goes for $99.99. It has 2 balanced TRS selectable speaker outputs and 2 stereo blanced TRS inputs and one stereo RCA inputs. Any Sam Ash should have them

thanks for that frank. Is this similar to the Mackie Big Knob which I've also just come across? (that sounds terrible...)
What's the audio quality of the samson like compared to teh mackie? I like the fact that the mackir also has a direct phono input

why don't you just send the output of your soundcard to one of your channel faders on your djm600?

I do that now, but don't like it. I hate having to leave my mixer on basic computer sounds.
Also Mixers can doctor the sound. You pay alot of money for flat responce speakers, you want to send a flat signal to them.
