Change Mac's Oil and Air Filter!!!!

Some may know this some may not but this is very important I feel to do. When you buy a new car you usually finace it and make payments but straight to the point it's an investment and we protect our investments by maintaing them.

Every 3-6 thousand miles you change you air filter and oil in your car ( I hope! ) Well it's the same with Mac C.P.U.'S.

Go to your Mac hard drive double click and then go to Applications. Find utillities and double click. Find disk utillity double click. The you will see your hard drives. Click once on the no. 465.8 GB EX hard disk. (exsample) click verify disk. That's it! It will check everything for you to make sure nothing is corrupted or their is any problems with your hard drive or hard drives. It will tell you if it passed or not.

Verifying the disk does not erase any information. ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT THOUGH!!!!! IT WILL TELL YOU. Make sure it's right. I'm not responable if you erase your External!!!!!! or Internal!!!!!!! DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING!!!! I'm using a Mac Book Pro with 10.4.11 OS.

I recomed that you do this to all of your drives. Once every 3 months.

If you have a problem and it says that found error it needs to be repaired. All though i don't know if this will erase data.

My case was I had some files that i could not delete and i did this test and my Mac HD had an error tried to repair and it wouldn't so i had to reload OS in this case i did loose everything on my Mac.

I heard that if you have errors on your drive it's not a bad thing but should be fixed. My modo es if it's not broke don't fix it. But there's a thin line between fix and maintaning your investment! If you don't change the oil in your car ever your going to get sluge and eventually it will smoke and the engine will go!!!! If you change it it will last longer.

you be the judge. Im not a cpu tech so do this at your own percausion!!!! DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING BEFORE MAKING THAT FINAL CLICK! Good Luck....

Don't reload your OS. Try using Disk Warrior first.

or just leave it alone. it's nothing major and doesn't mean that anything is wrong it's just a conflect. it's part of maintaince. if you use externals or download from illeagal or even leagal sites (sometimes) you can develop this problem. sometimes files get locked and you just need to unlock them. Is everything deleting out of you trash can? You can develop the promblem from anywhere really but is most common in the two i described above. This is why it is important to eject the ex. hard drive everytime and to stay away from sites like lime wire, bear share, porn!!!!!!!!!!!! especially. Mac's are not 100% bullet proof and will have conflects too. Don't worry about it unless your comfortable fixing it. otherwise just leave it alone.

I had the same problem when a friend of mine gave me some tracks. I backed up my own tracks, reformatted the external, and everything was ok.
