Not that I ever use them, but I was wondering about that also...as well as the little "star" that shows up on the other site in thread titles that you've posted in.

Interesting how even seemingly little things about a redesign can break existing user conventions.

The new serato.com is *a lot* more than just a redesign :) The entire underlying code has been either rewritten or heavily refactored (for the forum and the rest of the site) to use the same architecture and framework as whitelabel.net. The same will happen in the coming months for scratchlive.net too. Oh, and whitelabel.net will start using the new forum code too (being the only part of whitelabel.net that currently isn't resting on the framework designed for it).

That's why lots of little things (and a few big things) are missing - they haven't been reimplemented in the new code yet.

Most of the things that people are familiar with and comfortable with on the old forum code will be reimplemented in the new, but some things won't. It gives us a good time to ask the question "was [thing] a good decision in the first place?", and sometimes the answer will be "no". Although I can't think of any obvious "no" things right now :)

I never said it was "just" a redesign... but the end user doesn't care about underlying code and frameworks. They just care about whether it works or not. As a fellow webmaster, I can empathize with your position though because I've certainly done my share of redesigning (or realigning).

That said, the new forum code certainly "feels" faster.

any reason why I've stopped getting email notifications for new private messages even though I have the option ticked off to send notifications? I don't have a spam filter enabled for my email account by the way.

Email notifications are not working on Serato.com yet. If someone is on Serato.com and posts in one of your Private Messages or Tracked Discussions you will not be notified.

In the future all email notifications will match the forum you visited last, so if you "prefer" ScratchLIVE.net, and someone posts on Serato.com, the email you receive will have links to the ScratchLIVE.net forum.
