What software do most DJs use to record their mix tapes?

I am looking for a software that can be used to separate the mix into tracks.

I've just started using Audacity and it seems to do everything needed to record/chop up a mix.

I used to use Soundforge and that was great, but i don't want anything too resource hungry now i'm relying on ScratchLive to supply the tunes as well as vinyl.

I use SoundForge 7 or Ableton Live 6. Any of the good softwares out there will work well, its more important to have a good audio interface (I use an M-Audio NRV10) and a balanced input from your mixer. If you have those two things and set levels properly you should be good.

SoundForge 7 will separate a single audio file into tracks based on the markers you place. I think its in the tools menu, click "Markers to regions" and then in the special menu click "Extract regions"

Werd.
And there are also alot of plug ins available if you want to tweak your recording.
It doesn't use much processing power, so it won't mess around with your serato and cause any USB dropouts etc.

if using a mac, i would definitely look into wiretap. just great, and fits on top of your ssl screen perfectly, like it was designed with ssl in mind. wouldn't use any other.

Cakewalk "Pyro" works great with ONE limitation.. when recording, the file can't be more than 3 hours. Thats not a disk space limitation.. its set in the program code. Means you have to break a 4 + hour set somewhere in the middle of a song. Other than that.. it's great. Easy to use.
