file size

Hi!

What file sizes are you guys using? I've tested it with a 24 MB QuickTime video (.mov). When I'm loading it onto one of the virtual tables it takes about 20 sec. 'til it appears on there, and within these 20 sec. the program (SSL) is like frozen.

The first time I was testin' it, my RAID crashed so I had to re-install the notebook (don't know the correct term for this, sorry).

Machine: Sony VAIO VGN-AR51SU (European unit)

- Windows Vista Ultimate
- Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 (2.40 GHz)
- 2 GB RAM
- 2 x 250 GB RAID 0 (Serial ATA-150, 4200 rpm)

Thought it was tough enough to get the VSL run :/

My file sizes are 60-70mb and they only take 1-2 seconds to load.
Are your videos on another drive other than your system drive? If so, you may be experiencing the bug where overviews aren't being kept, so ssl tries to rebuild them again which can take 20 seconds.
I would advise against Vista at this moment.

I've only got C:\. No other (external) drives. I havn't defragmented my computer yet, ’cause it’s brand new.

What can I do against that bug?

What codec is in your video?
How much memory does windows report (run>winver)?

2GB is the absolute minimum I would recommend for Vista, if you have 1023 assigned to your graphics card that doesn't leave much for the OS or SSL.
