Hello,
I want to know if someone install the SP2 of windows XP?
I've read from the microsoft website that they improve the USB bus management....don't know exactly what they change, but maybe some issue is resolved (need of power supply, problem when starting Windows with the SSL box connected.....).
Is there some difference with the SP2?

Has anyone tested XP SP2 with SSL at all? I want it to be confirmed that it works, before I install SP 2.

I have SP2 on one of my machines. The install went smoothly, but I haven't tried SSL on it yet. If you can wait until tonight I'll test it out and post my results.

Oh and remember that you can uninstall the service pack if you need to...

Initial tests with SP2 indicate it works fine. Of course you will want to test it before taking it out to a club in front of 5000 people :)

Hi guys, sorry I haven't had time to test SP2 enough yet to give a definitive answer. Our windows machines don't suffer from the vast majority of OS or hardware related problems which users report, making it tough to troubleshoot onsite. Of course if SP2 _introduces_ any new strangeness, we'll post right away.

You will need at least SP1 installed to fix the Micro$oft Windows XP USB bug.

this might be dumb.... im not as good with computers as most of you, but are these windows updates happening to me automatically? every now and again, I get a notice from my taskbar saying "new windows updates are avaliable".... I always tell it to install them..... are these service packs getting installed then? also, on one of my laptops I use for sll, I dont ever plug it in online, so it hasnt had any windows updates..... what would the symptoms of not having sp1 installed be? as far as ssl use?

I am using Win XP/SP2 on my new 2.4GHz machine, and it runs okay. I only had one drop out during a live gig, 1-2 seconds, but I doubt it has something to do with SP2.

I've been using Win XP Home with SP2 from day one. It all works great apart from the one time when the system locked up due to a bad mp3 file. I've gigged it 5 times now (each gig is 5 hours) and run it for a 24 hour period at home with no problem. I would suggest that you follow the tips about turning off all unused services and reduce the XP OS down to the bare minimum as it does make a difference to how well SSL performs. The PC I use is a 3.0GHz laptop specifically dedicated to the SSL system.
