I went through the calibration process, and I still can't get the tracking to read 100% consistantly. It fluctuates between 94% and 100% and I can hear slight drop outs.

I've cleaned my needles (Ortofon Pro S) cleaned my records. Still can't get a consistant tracking signal. What can I do? Relative mode is not an option.

you shouldn't get dropouts from 94% tracking... what kind of processor are you running?

More ram on the way.

Tried a variety of files, and let the overview build before playing?

hmmmmm.... no. Still alot about this product I have not figured out.
I'm ripping everything as .aiff 44.1 stereo. I'll try some high rate .mp3s and watch the overview fill. Thanks for the tip.

Make sure you have somewhat new needles... don't use ones that are heavily 'used'.

ok, with aiffs you'll be working your disk hard, so maybe an external firewire drive could help? Use the activity monitor and see if you have any spikes in disk access or CPU usage which correspond with the drop-outs.

Good point, and the scopes are pretty much the best needle diagnostic tool for the average joe ever. Try some different needles if you can, check out the various scope responses.

I put on a brand new set of Pro S styli and my rings cleaned up significantly. I also tightened up the calibration a bit and it seems to have solved the problem. The system is working at peak performance for what my computer is capable of.

Does RAM have any bearing on SSLs performance? I would imagine it would.
