Hi, I just got a new laptop and have loaded serato on it. After 5 minutes of playing or so I start to get the yellow/red lights for usb dropout. It only ever drops out for less than a second, but still that really kills a party. I have a gig next wednesday and am hoping I can get this resolved before then. I really appreciate any help.

Computer info:
Sony Vaio
Windows 7 64 bit
Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz)
Memory: 4GB (2GBx2) DDR3-SDRAM-1066
Hard drive: 400GB Hard Disk Drive (5400rpm)

I have already read through many of the posts regarding this and still haven't solved my problem. I'm not quite sure that I can run a RATT test as I'm not using windows xp. I've already went through the Vista Optimization as many posts have suggested. serato.com

My wireless card is disabled as is my ethernet card. I have turned all the aero options to high performance. Seems unlikely with 4gb of ram its some kind of memory problem.

Please help me resolve this. Is there anything else I can do to help you find the problem?

Hello halfstep,

As I'm sure you know, we're not yet officially supporting Windows 7 but I'll do my best to help.
Where do you have your usb audio buffer set at?
Have you tried plugging your SL1 into other usb ports on your computer?
Do you have any other usb devices plugged in?
If so, can you unplug them and see if your system runs any better?

Have you turned off any anti virus software?

Thank you for the quick response.

I have my usb buffer set at 10
I have tried using different ports and get the same behavior.
No other devices are plugged in.
I don't have any anti-virus software installed.

Can the screen refresh rate effect this at all? I'm not at my setup right now, but saw somewhere in the forums where it was suggested to set the fps to 20. Mine was set to 60 by default. Could this be a problem?

You could lower the 'Maximum screen updates' a little to cut down on cpu for the graphics but I wouldn't drop it too low. If you do then your screen will be choppy.

Unfortunately there isn't a program like the Ratt Test that will allow us to see where the problem spots are on your computer nor do I know much about Windows 7 at all:(

I would definitely make sure the computer has all the needed Windows updates as well as any driver, chipset, bios updates from the manufacturer's website.

If I was in your situation I would probably take my computer to a specialist and have them strip down all the un needed programs and processes that are on on your computer.

I'm sorry I don't have any other suggestions at the moment:(
