Sasha Ditches Ableton For CDJ2000's

FAO EDM Heads.
Lifted this off another board I frequent, pretty interesting:

Great night is brisbane last night. My first night playing on the new cdj2000s. All went without a glitch.

The guys at pioneer really have done a great job. The machine itself is fantastic and the rekordbox software is just very simple but clever.

A lot of the things I like about ableton have been incorporated into the new set up. The software is perfect for organising your sets.

They have really thought it thru. The quantised looping function makes extending your mixes a doddle. Fun to play on for sure.

I think once my maven is back from being rebuilt I will use it as a giant mpc style sample bank and fx machine along side the cdjs.
--------

The biggest man in dance throws his weight behind the new players, pretty heavy blow to Ableton, I'm holding off purchase until I see what the new Serato/Ableton collab brings ;)

I would take any sponsored DJ's words with a massive grain of salt, to put it as nicely as possible.

Ableton Live vs. CDJ2000's strikes me as a classic apples/oranges scenario.

Sasha isn't sponsored. Apples/oranges, errm perhaps but in many ways you CAN directly compare both platforms since they are both dj products.

Nicksubishi: you mean Sasha? He stopped using SSL years ago.

Just thought it was pretty major since Sasha is the biggest protagonist of Ableton as a DJ tool.

I played at the UAE launch for the CDJ2000's this week and can vouch for the units being top draw...pricey yes, but serious good.

The looping is unreal, skip proof and no mis cues (as you used to get on the older models if you were not 100% on cue).

Messed around with music library etc and all seems pretty cool.

Only played for 45 minutes, but that was enough to sell me into bringing a 32gb flash drive to a gig and using them independant of Serato.

Be good to see a side by side test playing the same music file via Serato and via the USB flashdrive???

...was given a nice pair of HDJ2000's as well which was nice :)

I will get a set of the 900's or the 2000's sometime early next year. I'd like to play on them for a bit before I order a set. I talked to pssl and they have sold more than half of their allotted 2000's but haven't sold 1 900 yet, why is that?
