Ok I haven't had a problem with Serato for a very long time but lately I've been having major problems for about I'd say 3 weeks here and there. Im using a Toshiba PC. It has a duo core centrino processor and 3 gigs of ram. I believe its windows vista 32 bit system. Lately my PC sometimes doesn't detect the SSl1 box. I changed usb cables and everything seemed to be working fine. Then it did it to me again at a gig, and it did it to me at home. This has happened to me about 5 times in the past 3 weeks. My computer becomes non-responsive and the SSL program freezes up and it reads "Not Responding" and I cant close it out. I hit control alt delete and open up task manager and I click end process and I still can't get the SSL program to close. I have to shut my PC off and turn it back on once or twice and re-plug the SSL box into my PC and then it begins to work fine like nothing ever happened. I don't know what is going on. Should I switch back to a later version of SSL. I need to get this resolved. I started my set 15 mins late tonight and the club owner wasn't happy. I have NO corrupt files. Im using a new USB cable. I have new RCA cables. My PC has no viruses. I have about 70 gigs of HD space left. I have my internet turned off while Im using SSL. I use a cooling fan.

Hello Doomz,
I know you say you don't have any corrupt files but it does sound like a corrupt file issue.
Just to be super sure I would first click the 'rescan id3 tag' option in the lower left corner of the 'files' window. (The 'files' tab is underneath the right virtual deck)
This will calculate what tracks have been analyzed and which ones haven't been.
After its done scanning, click the 'analyze files' tab found on the far left of the SSL screen when the Rane hardware is disconnected.
Once all tracks have been analyzed look thru your library and delete any files that have a corrupt file icon next to them that looks like a cd with a crack down the middle.
If your still having crashing issues once we're sure your library is corrupt file free let us know and we'll go from there.
It is very important that you get rid of ANY files that have the corrupt file icon next to them. Know that even if you never play the corrupt file(s) it can still crash or freeze your setup.

Ok I did a the rescan id3 and like I said I have no corrupt files. I plugged in my SSL box and my PC detected the SSL harware and then it had a usb drop out and it couldnt detect the SSL harware. I changed usb cables again and it did the same thing. I unpluged the usb cable and tried to close out serato and it stated "Not Responding". Windows open up a pop up and asked if I wanted to close the program. I did and it closed. I clicked on my serato icon and the program loaded and I did the same routine all over again. I eventually turned off my PC and restarted it and plug in my SSL box and it fired up like nothing was wrong. Im pretty sure Im doing everything right. Ive been using SSL for over 3 years now and I know what to do and what not to do. I have a gog this Saturday and I cant have any delays. Should I install a later version or do I need to send my SSL box in for a check up. I have never dropped it, abused it, or loaned it out. Its in good condition.

We deal with connection issues with our Vista machine too.
Sometimes it decides it doesn't want to mount until after you unplug and re-plug and sometimes SSL will 'stop responding' when we go to shut the program down.
With that said, it sounds like some of what your experiencing is due to Vista.
First, I would turn off the UAC controls:
Go into the Control Panel.
Make sure your in 'Classic' View.
Choose User Accounts.
Click on the option towards the bottom "turn user account controls on/off" and uncheck the "use UAC..." option.
Restart your computer.
If your still having connection issues I would try using your box with a different computer to see if you still have the same issues.
If not, then we know its not an issue with your SL1.
Let us know and we'll go from there.
