While using Scratch Live playing an mp3 in the left deck. I opened the sampler and began playing them. The longest one lasting 7secs. None of them are larger than 2mb. While I had one sound file playing in the sampler. I decided to go from group-A to group-B. While the a sample was playing, I simultaneously clicked on the group-B button. That's when the application locked up. I waited 5mins. before forcing it to quit. However, I lost all of my most recent settings when I did that.

When I opened Scratch Live. I attempted the same thing with the sound sampler. The same thing occurred. Please assist? Thanks!

Hi Sikwidityo - did this happen with the same files each time you had these freezes? Or does it happens with any track you try to play in the sample player in the same way?

Have you analyzed all files in your library and deleted any corrupt files? Are these tracks standard music files or do they have videos associated to them?

What are your computer specs? i.e. model, processor speed, memory (RAM)? Are you using an external hard drive and if so what format is it?

Thanks

It happens with various files I load into the sample player. These files have been analyzed. They are not corrupt. They are standard music files without any videos attached to them.

Are all these file mp3s?

If you move some of these files onto your internal hard drive from your external, then try to play them in the sample player doing the same thing as you described above, does Scratch Live still crash?

All of the music files are mp3 files that I filed on the internal hard-drive. They are currently located in the "//Music/ScratchLIVE/Recording" folder.

I must add that I'm just referring to the "sampler files" when I state that All of the music files are mp3's.

Are you waiting for the bank A sample to finish playing before changing banks?

No I'm not. While a sample file is playing from Sound-bank-A. I tried to switch to Sound-bank-B. At that point the application freezes. Then I have to force-quit.

So this only happens when you switch banks while the sample is playing? When you switch banks when a sample isn't playing, does it still crash? By design the sample player will stop playing samples in one bank when you change to another, but it shouldn't crash.

Perhaps you could attach one of the files you're playing in the sample player to this thread?

Sikwidityo attached a file: ENG-FEM-K-Smooth-ID-1.mp3

It only crashes when I'm switching banks *while* a sample is playing.

Do you have it playing from a certain "play from" point (cue 1, 2, loop and etc)?

Does this happen with the above sample loaded to a specific sample player?

Do you have any other samples loaded to bank A when the crash occurs?

Do you have any other samples loaded to bank B when the crash occurs?

Are you switching between banks A and B or A and some other bank?

To add to what Shaun has suggested:

Try loading complete songs into the sampler, something you have not recorded (Tripple check and make sure they are MP3 files you are loading). See if it crashes when you are using complete songs.

Are you sure the samples you currently using are all MP3s? Is there a reason they are in the ScratchLIVE/Recording folder? Did you record them with ScratchLIVE and then convert them to MP3 - then you put them back into the ScratchLIVE/Recording folder?

Hi, not all of the files in the ScratchLive "Recording" folder are MP3s. I have made some recordings with Serato and they are .aif format.

I have tried complete songs which are MP3s (approx.6mb) each that are analyzed and the program does not crash. The MP3 files are currently stored on the external drive.

I only had voice-overs loaded in 12 sampler slots on the A & B banks. That's when the crashing occurred. I have not had anything loaded in the C & D banks. I did try it with the sound files in the C & D banks. No crashing occurred. The crashing only occurs when going from A to B bank.

Try taking the smaller files out of the Recording folder - place them somewhere else on the internal HD - re import them into ScratchLIVE and try to get them to crash the sample player again. Maybe because they are in the recording folder - they are causing a crash.

Done. So far, so good. No crashing at this time. Should I not be using sound files for the sampler that are located in the "ScratchLive/Recording" folder?

You should be able to without any problems.

But I was thinking (shooting in the dark) maybe because those files were in the recording folder - they were causing crashes.

So was my theory right? You are now using the same files that were in the recording folder, but now they are located somewhere else (outside of the recording folder) and those same files are not crashing SSL?

Yes. I created a new folder inside of the Scratch Live folder on the local hard-drive. It seems to be working fine now.

Wierd.

I tried to replicate it here and on a Windows XP computer running 1.9.2 and could not.

If you create a new recording folder within the ScratchLIVE folder - and place these tracks back in here - do they crash the sample player again? Maybe you had a corrupt Recording folder within the ScratchLIVE folder? Never seen this before but maybe thats it?

I also tried to replicate the same issue with the file you sent and couldn't. Did you have a chance to try Rafael's suggestion?

I have re-created a folder in the ScratchLIVE folder and added a few sound files. When I used the sampler with these files. There was no crash.

Wierd - sounds like it could have just been an issue with the original recording folder. Let us know if you happen to get it to happen again somehow.
