Would anyone use just your laptop, SL box and this controller for small bars and private parties?

Bah, looked at it again...there is no audio inputs on it so this would just be a midi controller and you couldn't use it as a replacement for your regular mixer.
So much for creating a super small footprint small party system.

Death of the vinyl DJ?
The Traditional turntable is all I have for me to bridge it back to the Tru school!

I've played on the SPIN controller, and I have to say for the money, it's really impressive.

It might be good, but I do wonder by being a product eclusive to apple store and running with itunes based software how much it's really just going to be a toy for mac owners primarily.
DJ hero for macs?

I'm sorry to say but Dj hero is pretty wack. The spin controller allows you to mix your own music, where Dj hero is just remixing 100 or so tracks. There really is no comparison. Whoever decided to put buttons on the actual platter (Dj hero) was crazy. The spin controller is actually sold out in most apple stores already. I think it's going to open up djing to a whole new crowd and hopefully lead to greater creativity and new enthusiasm in mixing and kutting.

we just got the vestax in at work and I play with it a little. I personally didn't like it at all, it felt so cheap. However, i haven't played with a ton of midi controllers so i don't know exactly what to look for. Comparing it to my 1200's + SL1 though, hahah no chance

Definitely not a replacement for my 12's, but the spin is much better than Dj hero or any if those numark iPod mixers.

I wasn't really serious when I said that, realistically I think it'd be more like everybody having cracked copies of VDJ, now they'll have this.

I think it should be directly compared to the VCI-300 with ITCH.
Remember that was supposed to be the perfect marriage of software and hardware.
Now, take away the problems created by using various different laptops and replace that with a MAC and drop the price $600 bucks.
I don't even have a MAC but I'm getting one very soon and this will follow,
so my WIFE can use it to make bank!!
