I was dj'n this past saturday ( halloween ) and experienced something i had never experienced before. I normally you a WD PASSPORT 500GB hard drive and have been for about a year but I got some new music and decided to use my 1.5 TB (WD PASSORT) hard drive. Twice threw out the night scratch live just kind of lost connection and took about 3 min to get music back together.. I got frustrated after the 2nd time and just put the 500 GB back in... Not good in front of 400 people....lol but just wanted to hear some knowledge has to why this happened and ways to prevent it from happening again.... Got a bigger 600-700 gig Fri Nov. 6th and really want to bring along the extra music.... ( hear is my computer and dj set up ) 13in Macbook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory: 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 ( snow lepoard) TTM57SL mixer, CDJ 800's Pioneer, Thanks for all the input

for starts you need to prove it's not a hardware fault with the hard drive, connection or power supply.

borrow a mates 1 + TB and hook that up

Sounds like your drive fell asleep.

Thinking the same thing. Overall the WD drives are running in ecological mode which means that they spin down after a while. I have a 500Gb Passport Studio which does the same thing, however it's not causing me problems. The worst I get is a 5 second delay when loading a new song.

but it's different hardware, so they probably behave differently, perhaps the 1,5Tb needs more time to spin up which SSL reads as a "timeout"?
dunno, try a different drive.

my wd hd goes to sleep often during performance, and fires up on-the-fly ok.
