itunes questions......

I am tryin to get familiar with itunes. Question, if I try to get it to search for cover art it says I must have an account with itunes. Does this mean it will charge me for the art? Will it only find tack info if it has been bought through itunes?

you just need a mac account.. they will not charge you for recieving album art. it will find art work for all properly tagged files you import into itunes lib. but problem is it will not embed into the file itself. it stores the album art in the itunes music lib folder & coresponse the file w/ that pic. once you take the file out of itunes (no art)

not that i know of..
if you use itunes to embed album art. you are gonna have to embed yourself.

i use all these programs to get album art embeded to my files.

www.tuneupmedia.com
www.mixshare.com
www.mp3tag.de

for the files i dont find i just got to embed myself.

iTunes only seems to work (well) if you have full albums and all your tag information complete. The easiest way is to hit Amazon, Discogs, and even Walmart and just drag and drop the artwork in yourself.

Something similar to this: www.ilounge.com or just drag and drop from the web browser on the little Artwork window.

^^ that's what I do. Everytime I rip a cd, record or whatever I drag a jpeg from amazon or something similar.

I was doing that for a while but eventually stopped. I'm going to start doing that again, now I've finally updated my Scratchlive and can see the album artwork.

mediamonkey also has several powerufl 'plugins' that will automatically find album art for albums with none amongst other things. check out the mediamonkey forums

mediamonkey is an excellent media player with advanced library management. it lacks the simplicity that itunes has which is why it'll never be a main stay. with the success of the ipod and the itunes store, itunes has become an industry standard of playing digital music. i can see why serato chooses to support itunes. heck even final scratch 1.0 (2001-2002) read itunes libraries.

btw, serato can read the playlists mm exports, just not the library (it uses a real db...access).
