Yeah... serious.

Do I really have to link threads??? lol....

Look at the Guetta thread for starters... have to get home from work but yeah lots of hate on here for lectronix.

Nothing new in the US though.

And yes.. .there are a lot of multi-genre DJ's on here.

No big deal... there are enough cool people on here to make it worth seeing past that flaw on this site.

Does it bother you guys (too) when people on this forum say HOUSE without the proper "pre tag"?

In our minds "House" is House but here seems to be the general word "House" is automatically translated to Electro or Tech House or "that end" of the EDM line.

Did I miss a memo or did the world just evolve without me - LOL.

yo art... I feel you 100% about the term "house". It's kinda like when people say techno but they mean electronic music as a whole. I do feel that techhouse is ok because if you ever heard guys like timewriter or Terry lee brown jr than you know how deep and soulful techhouse can be, but electro and the other harder and faster forms of dance music are just that.. To fast and hard to really have soul and shouldn't be labeled "house" in any way. Just my random opinion.

I think I know where you are coming from with this one Dj Art Pumpin Payne. It doesn't really bother me because if I listen to any house record(Electro, Soul, whatever you want to put in the front of it) and it sounds good, it's all good with me. House music is the only genre that does that to people. Get a room with real house heads, not the people that say they like house and only know house on the radio or famous songs. Throw a new house song on for REAL HOUSEHEADS and you will not get people looking at you like you are crazy saying what the hell is this, you will get people feeling it in their soul son, Yes, deep in their souls.

And remember kids HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG! say what?

Art you didn't miss the memo because there was no memo. We the real house heads allowed the mainstream to define what was house in an effort to make it bigger and more popular than it originally was. In the process the mainstream started slipping in some of the other types of stuff and callin it house because the BPM was similar to house. Some call it evolution i call it genre lumping. When people can't properly name/describe something they call it the closest thing that they are familiar with.
So to answer your question yes it kinda bothers me when all sorts of miscillaneous music is lumped in with HOUSE. Especially when i download a mix or a track labelled house when it really aint what i think is house. But hell who am i to say, what do i know ? i'm just an old dude with an opinion. 2 years ago...this site was definitely mostly hiphop DJs.

I remember the first couple Jammy Jams we had in LA, me and Kagen just sat around 'til the end when everyone finally let us play a little bit of house.

Oh how times have changed, now everyone plays at least a little bit of house, and at the last couple Jammy Jams it's been at least 50/50 hiphop to house ratio.

Eh even with the curve adjustment? I don't think the curve on any of them is perfect for slow blending--I just do that all with the EQs.

general rule of thumb is the fader stays in the middle,
lines levels on slow slope, and EQs for effect; never as a crutch.

my friends used to swear my mixes were done on a 2016 or a urei.
but once you learn the eqs and how much line fader movement is needed
for certain increases/decreases the 54/56/57 sound amazing for nice smooth
mixes

I have to tell ya...

theres NOTHING going on in those video that have anything to do with
that mixer (the pioneer)

you can tell because of his extended time in the jesus pose...

but onto the 57, while I think the effects on the 57 are great.

I find if effects is the bag you want to bring to the table you want to rock
outboard effects... IE EFX 1000/500
you have TOTAL control over them...and with flex/fx in the 57 its plush
