19222 PC USB Dropouts

too much usb dropouts on 19222

vista sp2
intel core 2 duo P8600 2.40Ghz
3 gb ram
buffer at 10
tested with 19222

getting bout all 1-2 minutes dropouts
unusable for live

no problems with 19136 or any other previous versions buffer almost at 3

btw laptop is as cold as ice )) no overheating issues
also wireless turned off, no virus etc etc
standard optimation procedure

The Ratt report doesn't work when using Vista.

Just so we're clear.. you can revert back to 1.9.1 without changing anything in setup and your system runs fine?

i have both installed same time
19222 and 19136

on gigs with 19136 works fine

also noticed when once open 19222, the last history cant be open in 19136

This is because we changed how the History works in 1.9.2.

I noticed you said your buffer was set at 3?
This is low for a Vista machines.
Many Vista machines can't run a buffer setting lower than 4 or 5 without getting dropouts.
With that said, if you boost your buffer do the dropouts go away?

running 19136 also many other previous versions buffer at 3

but with 19222 i can go higher than 10 with no success

I'm going to get the Serato mods involved with this thread. Sounds like a bug to me.

Are you doing anything when these USB dropouts happen(eg. triggering cues, searching your library)? Do you have tracks playing on both decks?

just playing in int mode one deck only
also when playing on both decks is same,
dropouts in frequent intervals

When upgrading to 1.9.2 from 1.9.1 there will be an temporary increase on memory load while the previous history data is reformatted. How long did you run on 1.9.2 for?

If you increase the USB buffer to the maximum do the dropouts stop?

I Feel The Left Deck Is Verry Slow To Fix The Actual Speed.I used Windows,

i tried it out

increasing to maximum seems to be ok, no dropouts
increased to 15 no success, dropouts

as i mention before had no probs with previous versions with usb buffer 3-5

btw im on vista sp2

Have you tried to use 1.9.2 on several different occasions?

Try this:

Shut down SSL.
Open the ScratchLIVE folder on your internal drive (located in your Music folder).
Rename the History folder so it reads HistoryOLD.
Re-open SSL and give it a try.
Any luck?

how long it takes to reformat the history ?

i had 1.9.2 opened for a long time, its every day opened for bout 15 hours

i rename the whole history folder so ssl starts a new clear history but wihout success
same dropouts

Can I get you to download and run the DPC Latency Checker (www.thesycon.de) - have this running when you are using Scratch Live. When you experience dropouts do you see the DPC Latency Checker jump into the red or does it stay in the green?

tested with 19136 and 19222 buffer setting 5

on 19136 latency mostly less 500ms

on 19222 bout 1000ms and dropouts jump to red max

it seems that 19222 requires double latency than 19136

update on 19222:

some curious things
buffer on 5 couses dropouts on ssl usb led show but on DPC seems to be all ok bout 500-1000 ms no red

when lowering buffer to 1-3 on DPC seems to be better than usb buffer is on 18 or maximum is more "red" on dpc
its curious i dont understand...

but in fact on 19136 the "curve" on DPC looks more stable than in 19222
not so much ups n downs

If you open Task Manager how much memory is 1.9.2 using compared to 1.9.1?
Do you have Video-SL installed and open when using 1.9.2? If so which version?
Do you have any tracks loaded or playing in the sample player? If so how many slots are you using?

i have no video sl installed and not using any video things

task manager shows bout 1,4 GB memory on both 19222 and 19136
5 samples r loaded on 19222 on BANK A, others r empty

We did make some changes to the buffering of the sample player slots in 1.9.2 so it's possible this may be a cause. If you clear the sample player completely do you still have these USB dropouts?

it becomes better with clearing the sample player
no dropouts now buffer on 10

but not as good as in 19136 lowering buffer to 5

What is the lowest buffer setting you can go to now in 19222 with the sample player empty?


Interesting, so with tracks in the sample player in 19136 you are getting dropouts? If so what level do you have to increase the buffer to? Were you not using the sample player previously in 19136?

on 19136 buffer is on 5 without dropouts

on 19222 must increase to over 15, better to maximum to play without dropouts

5 samples loaded on both, they r short snippets bout 5-40 sec

This makes sense when you have tracks loaded on the sample player, due to the buffering changes made in 1.9.2.

As a workaround I suggest if using 1.9.2 that you keep the sample player empty. We'll take a look at this issue here.
