Whats the deal with this "Paranormal Activity" movie

I'm a scary movie fan and I've been hearin that this is like the scariest movie of all time. Of course it's not playin in my town. Anybody seen it yet?

I seen it here in NYC. It'll have you up for about 3 or 4 days with the lights on.

This is my gripe. While this movie TOTALLY DESERVES to be on at the theatres, and you should spend your money to watch it, but I think, if you truly like to be scared shitless, wait for it to come on DVD and watch it at home. It will make it 10x freakier.

I talked with a couple of friends who watched it too and we were all saying the same thing "If I watched this at home, I wouldn't be able to turn the lights off for a while"

Saw it yesterday....not bad for a horror flick. I would recommend it if you feel like getting creeped out. It's not all that "jump out of your seat" scary. But it is scary in the sense that you're thinking "what the fuck!!!? Oh shit!" the whole time.

If you believe in this stuff, you'll probably be more affected then others. I have personally seen two shadows standing by my bed before and have felt like I couldn't move so I could relate the the movie more. My girl was freaked out after lol...

That's a common experience many people have and it's always happens like this or to some variation:

Person is sleeping. He/she wakes up and sees a dark shadow figure standing next to or near by their bed. He/she feels pressure like someone pushing down on their chest. Person tries to scream or yell but they can't move or talk.

Almost always, the person tries saying a prayer or ask for God's help and the shadow leaves and the person can move again.

That's funny you mention this because that happened to me the other night. I didn't see a shadow, but I woke up and couldn't move or talk but I could see someone lifting my leg. I was trying with all my might, but I couldn't move.

Except here his the thing......I've done a ton of research on sleep paralysis because my gf said she had this happen once. In Korea, they call it "scissors" and like a lot of different cultures call it something else, anyways, at some point I said to myself "Oh I know what this is" and just fell back asleep instead of panicking.

A lot of cultures tie it with a spirit (or the devil itself) sitting on your chest.

It's sleep paralysis. Your brain wakes up but your body is still in sleep mode so you have no physical control over it. During this time you're susceptible to hallucinations.

Pretty freaky feeling regardless of what you believe

Yeah that's happened to my girl a few times. I called bullshit until I looked it up online and found that it's happened to a lot of people. Must be a weird/scary feeling.

That's happen to me tons of times. It all started when I was around 11 or 12 years old. Still continues to this day. My ex gf who was Christian said it was a demon called Incubus. She would tell me to say. "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus" 3 times and the demon is suppose to release you. At first I would Panic and forget to say it. But when I did remember to say it. It didn't really work. I would struggle to move or say something. I hurt my neck one time trying to fight to move. I remember this one creepy time I was laying in bed sleeping on my side. And I felt this evil presents right behide me. I was wide awake and remember being to afraid to turn around to see what it was. Can't really explain how real that shit felt. But I remember how scared I felt to turn around. I felt like whatever it was, was daring me to turn around. I laid their and starting praying to that feeling went away. Theirs lot's of shit that has happen in my life that I can't really explain.

when i saw the shadows, there was 1 tall one and one short one. And they were far from my bed at first. Then they started comming closer untill they were at my bedside. It's weird because I lost too cousins tragicaly, it was almost as if it was their spirits looking over me. One of them was 10 who died suddenly of heart failure and the other died when he was 26 street racing. So the short one might of been my little cousin and the taller one, the older one. Crazy shit.

Damn those are some crazy ass stories. I can say I have never experienced anything weird like that. I really don't believe in ghost or sprits or UFO's. You see all these ghost and UFO shows and documentaries and they never show any real convincing footage or video to convince me. You figure all this time and high tec video equipment, they could of captured some proof by now. I guess i'll believe those things whenever I see them.

LOL at the "Scissors" name. I was going to mention that as my Korean friends call it that. Their theory is that it happens to Christians who are on "The Path" or on the verge of it and it's the work of the Devil who is trying to scare you off and pull you off "The Path".

I'm not so sure if these incidcents are because of sleep paralysis. I always thought it was, as I've had a few times where I couldn't get up or move, but I knew it was because I was asleep and I wasn't fully awoken. There's been times where I'm hallucinating being half asleep thinking I did something (like set my alarm clock), when I really haven't, I just dreamed I had.

But I hear the same similiar story of a "dark shadowy" figure kicking it by the bed side and pressure on the chest story from all different walks of life. One of my college buddies even said he felt like something was pulling him off the bed and then when he looked (or came out of paralysis) he saw three (or four) scratch marks on his leg.

But yes, I do believe in SOME of this stuff. Not all of it. There's a lot of truth to this stuff, although a lot of it is people's imaginations running wild or just being mistaken.

Oh and while we are at it, I've never done the Ouja board, but that thing is for real (in most instances, if you aren't joking around moving the cursor). I'm pretty sure it's the exact thing I tried in junior high school, with just a pen and paper:

Basically you have two people hold the pen together (NO HOMO) in a certain way that will allow the pen to freely move and write on the paper. Then you "call out" to the spirits and ask them if anyone is there. A lot of times it doesn't work, but on many occasions the pen will start to write things. You can ask it, it's name and sometimes it'll write it's name. You can ask it questions, and it'll write answers. Here's the crazy part: If you think the person is moving the pen, you can have them let go of the pen so only you'll be holding it and the pen will continue to move and write things. You can feel for youself (no misquote) the pen pulling and writing on it's own. It's trippy!

I remember contacting a spirit, and asked him his name...."Jeremy" or something like that was written. I asked him how old he was and it wrote on the paper "8" or something like that. I asked him how he died... it wrote the word "Strangled", I asked who strangled you, and it wrote on the paper I shit you not, "Father"............

Saw it last night....Don't believe the hype.

Just saw it. I said I need fact and see shit in person, but this film, has left chills in my spine for the last hour since I just left the theatre. This shit will hit your freak out factor for sure.

Psychological thriller and if you let it in you will be trippin on this flick for days.

I've had what is being described here as sleep paralysis, but it was a bit different.

I was taking an afternoon nap, my dream was very pleasant at first. Suddenly, everything shifted and turned to decay, the people in my dream were all dead and rotting, then I was being chased by some children zombie things that wanted to kill me.

When I have nightmares, I have learned that aggressively opening and closing my eyes will cause my body to respond and I wake up.

Anyway, when I opened my eyes I realized I wasn't alone. There was a perhaps 2 1/2 ft, tall brown figure standing on the bed with me that was turning to face me. I couldn't move and was freaked. In my mind it occurred to me that whatever it was, it was the source of the dream turning into a nightmare.

It wasn't human. It's eyes were bulging beyond the sockets, bloodshot, and surrounded with dark circles. The teeth were large and entirely exposed as if it's lips were removed or pulled back. It's hair was long and black, but oddly projecting straight up from a central tuft on it's head.

I was really terrified and did my best struggling to move. The thing stared at me and it seemed like every part of it was somehow shaking/vibrating. It wasn't happy and I felt it was somehow trapped in it's role. At some point I broke free and kinda jetted from the room. It disappeared as soon as I started to jump up.

Damn son! These are some scary visions or whatever. Yall need to get checked out

I just saw a trailer for some alien movie that looks like it was filmed the same way as Paranormal Activity. It looked kinda good, but you know since all the success from this movie, many movies will mimic. just like blare witch

I was just going to say that. The Fourth Kind is the alien movie. That shit looks scary as hell. I have this huge phobia of aliens (no Alf), but little green men, big eyes, long thin fingers..That shit creeps me out to no end, and this movie looks like it woudln't make me sleep for days. I actually watched Fire in the Sky years ago and was up for like a week! lol And what makes them even worse is that they go "Based on true events"

I watched the in theatre on and the screener and the theater version has a better ending. The third ending, which will probably be on the dvd sounds ok.

The screener has some missing footage and also has a few little things taken out.

I heard that Spielberg told the director to change the ending and actually gave him the new eding.

Ok so I got my girl to go with me to this movie last night. Be prepared to be straight up tense throughout the whole movie. Definately some WTF moments. I had my yankee fitted coverin up my face alot of the time. Lol. Thought the ending could have been a little better though.

in one of the endings she stabs her boyfriend downstairs and then later comes upstairs with a bloody knife and gets shot by the cops in her bedroom. that was probably the best ending.
