Who's on Xbox Live and who's on PSN?

I'm going to finally bite the bullet and get a gaming console. I know the pros and cons of each system, but not too experienced (no virgin) with the online play of both networks.

With that said:

Who is on Xbox live and who is on PSN? Which games do you play online? Why is xbox live considered a lot better than PSN?

I have them both, plus the wii. It comes down to this for me:

If you want a serious online gaming experience = Xbox 360
if you are mostly into playing by yourself = PS3

The PS3 has a good online community and theres plenty of people there, However i find it that the Xbox has a more fluent online functionality.

For ex. On the PS3 i get booted out on some multiplayer games online (and my connection is very good) not on all games but quite a few. Mlb the show has wack connection and I have yet to really finish a game online.

I dont have that problem with the Xbox.

All in all, the games are pretty much available for both consoles (except for the exclusive titles).

Oh btw,

I find the PS3 a more complete entertainment system. built in blu-ray player, online capabilties (you can google, facebook and all that goodness)

Xbox online offers netflix for members to stream movies while PS3 have their own video store and you can watch movies at additional cost.

Go With an Xbox if you wanna deal with it breaking and having to return it.

Get the new PS3 Slim for 3 Bills and your set.There will be a lot more PS3 owners now for the price drop and therefore more friends to play online with.All my friends have a PS3 at this point and we play Call Of Duty online

Sony is praying that this will be the case but I doubt it. They had to pretty much cut the price of the PS3 just to try to keep up with XBox sales.

I would go with the better online service which is LIVE. Yeah PSN is free but the online play is weak...you get what you pay for.

Its not weak at all.How? You play online,its all the same shit and yes I have played on live with friends and they all got rid of there 360's after red ringing countless times.Its not worth it.

That's what I'm thinking....people are reporting that Slims are selling quickly and some stores are sold out.

This could be good news for PSN because hopefully Sony will improve their online play. This could be also bad news if Sony doesn't do any upgrade to their infrastructure, because the more people online, the more the infrastructure is taxed.

I'm still in a toss up which system to get. Good friends are on PSN, but even else is on Xbox live....Does PSN have that much more lag time/dropped connections than Live? What other things about Live make it that much better?

However, At this point im leaning towards PS3, since I don't really like the exclusives xbox offers and I rather be playing GT5, God of War, Metal gear, Final Fantasy over First person shooters.

I think the PS3 has more upside than xbox with it's capabilities, plus I hear all the horror stories of RROD on xboxes and how you have to get the Jasper chipset (which even that will probably fail LOL). Also I have a spare 250 GB HD laying around that I could swap in....

Im on both systems and I like xbox live better....but I like the PS3 better as a console and entertainment system. Plus if your broke like me...xbox live isn't free and once your trial ends u either pay or can't play online. So for now im ridding with the PS3. Plus we get God of War III next year and Gran Turismo 5 by years end. YAY!!! And no matter what system you get try the new Batman game. It is sick.

Off the top of my head I would say that the lag and lack of supported games would make it weaker. I've had all three consoles at one point until I noticed the PS3 collecting dust so I sold it....AND it was the 60GB version that everyone wanted but I didn't use it at all.

I also owned 2 XBOX360s since the day they dropped and I never had a RROD...maybe I was lucky...who knows. (damn I might've just jinxed it)...anyway....Get an XBOX360 and play COD with the big boys...LOL..jk

There is a reason Xbox Live isn't free. They spent a shit load of money for the purpose of having INCREDIBLE online game play

I got the RROD once on my xbox but sent it in and haven't had a problem since...my boy has the PS3 but i don't get the same online exprience on his. And I use to be ps and ps2 lover (no homo) all the way. But I made the switch after trying the both of them and xbox came out on top......Come test me on GTA IV..

I've gotten 3 RROD's in my time but NOW!!!! They are doing permanent fixes and I haven't had a problem since. It's been almost 2 years. The longest I've gone without an RROD so I do believe it is permanent and the new Xbox's don't have the design flaw

I own both PS3 and 360 and I like them both. How big is your tv? HDMI? If you are into blu-ray movies, then go with PS3. But if your tv is less than 50", you really can't tell the difference the picture quality in blu-ray vs DVD. I've had no issues playing online games on PSN. If you are just into gaming, you can't go wrong with either systems, but you may like 360 better. In the end, it's about what you want out of the console.

I got a 24" 1080p Monitor that I have my pc,HD cable box and PS3 hooked up to and I can see the difference between a dvd and a HD blu ray.

But honestly blu ray are expensive and I got tired of getting HD MKV files so Now I just do net flix every couple months or go to the red box.The HD hype is over for me as I dont really have time for movies anyway.I hardly even touch my ps 3.Its strictly call of duty

I have a 73" HDTV and a 50" Plasma and it did make a difference in 73, but didn't make any difference in 50. Maybe because I watch tv from far distance and not too close? Because I do see the difference when I walk by my tv.

Too good of a price for the set features I wanted. I'm not really into first person shooters, and that's xbox's strength. I like PS exclusives better: GT series, God of war, Final Fantasy, etc and I found a group of close buddies who are on PSN who would be fun to play with (no homo LOL)

I also didn't want to deal with RROD on xbox and feel the PS3 has the most upside due to the fact that a lot of people are buying them up with the price drop (bigger community - more support and games down the road)

I play NHL09 and FIFA09 on PS3 like once a week. Ive never had any issues with the online play. Ive had a few herbs quit halfway through on me but the performance was great.

Im not into those 98,000 player death match fragfest type of online things so i cant speak on the stability of that but for sports games online the PS3 is fine.
