This is the first time I installed the video-SL plugin. I tried installing it many times, I also removed my quicktime version to install the one that come with your setup.

I use the latest serato version, and the latest version of the plugin. I tried many video formats (mov, avi, wmv), but nothing shows up, neither on the output window, nor in the video panel.

PS: I have the "quicktime alternative" codecs installed on my PC, should I remove them?

It's definitely worth a shot. If it's easy to do, give it a go and let me know the results.

Are you using the SL1, SL3 or the TTM 57SL hardware interface?

I'm using ScratchLive 1.9.1 with the SL1 on Win Vista SP1 32bits.

I tried removing quicktime alternative, then quicktime, then videoSL, clean up the registries with CCleaner, then reinstalling videoSL again, but no changes... ScratchLive don't even display a single frame from any video :(

It's strange since I've never had any problem with any video player/editor ...

I haven't touched anything in the video panel and I tried the left deck.

I launch SSL, I click the "video" button, then I click "demo" (I planned to purchase but I want the demo to work before). The 'output window' shows up, displaying the "demo mode" logo, Every display widget is black, as expected (no video).

Then I drag any video, wmv.avi, or mov, noticing that many audio/video codecs are unspported, and when I finally find one with no codecs problems, it displays no video (neither in the panel nor in the output window), and plays no sound, the time on the deck scrolls, but not the white arrow on the vertical display. With a wav or a mp3 it works as usal.

notice : I had one single .mov file (a short movie I made, encoded in 2001) on wich I could use the sound track, but still, no video at all.

I tried then the right deck, the turntable signal was ok in the setup (lefts turntable too), I moved the crossfader to the right in the video panel, and still, no video display.

I begin to think I won't get this to work :(

I got just a last information for you: I'm using a dual-screen display, could it be the cause of the plugin problem?

I updated my driver to the lastest version, but I won't install any 3rd party drivers, I had a lot of problems with them in the past so I'm a bit supersticious.

And still, I don't think that it could be a video card problem, cause VSL can't even get me the sound track of any video. I tried on many many format (avi, wmv, mov, vsl, divx, rm...) and I had sound on only a single video, wich was encoded by myself, with a very bad compression (quicktime format, more than 400mb for 7mn video). And for this video too, I did not get a single frame of the video in serato...

Maybe am I doing something wrong? I open serato, activate the video plugin in demo mode, browse trough the "files" panel to find a video, grab it to one deck, tap play on my turntable with the SSL record, everything is fine in the setup graph display, and then... nothing :(

ps: I used serato last night with only audio files, and it runs like a charm even after several hours of hardcore scratching and beatjuggling ! I love this software BTW :D

Hi Shini,

Looking at the initial movieinfobatch data you supplied the problem is that your video files were encoded using video and audio codecs that Video-SL doesn't support. Your files were a wide range, using the video codecs IV41, XVID, DX50 and m1s and the audio codecs MS, twos and QDM2. Did you encode these videos yourself?

Video-SL supports the video codecs H.264, DV, Motion JPEG A, Motion JPEG B, MPEG-4 and the audio codecs PCM, AAC, MP3. Make sure you use these when encoding your videos.

Ok,

I tried to VSL with the demo movies on my fresh install of Windows 7, using quicktime 7.5, then 7.6.4, then 7.5 again, and I still have the same problem, VSL behaves exactly the same : no video, no audio, no preview... It acts as if the plugin can't open the file, the only thing that is correctly computed is the length of the video (my deck gives me this informtion).

The video plays correctly in quicktime, with no sound (so I assume there's no sound on your demo videos), so I think this is really a problem coming from the plugin itself, that occurs when it attempts to open/decode the file.

btw, are you planning to support more formats? Maybe I could get the plugin to work with another codec, like mpeg, or xvid, or wmv, or anything else!

I'd be glad to test some beta versions of vsl, I really want this plugin to work on my computer!!
