I usually go side to side then cross both ways like an X. It leaves mess but that's what I'm use to

I didnt want to put in the time and effort to learn so I got the toilet with the auto-asswipe button, it misses spots but since it does the wiping for me i can focus on more creative ways to cover up the smell.
