That is the reason for the continued delays.

Parts? wow that is some bad marketing. I hate when manufacturers toy with us and give us such an early release date then push it further back. I wont be surprised if they come out with a later date. Ill just try to keep calm, maybe watch some porn, play some basketball, use my SL1. =)

I meant bad marketing for my provider PSSL. They gave me a really early release date.

Yes bad marketing! if you dont have it in.... dont say nothing! dont post anything! or use the words MAYBE BY (such date)...
as a costumer i dont like this game, if rane says mixer will be rdy by middle of april 2006 then us as costumers will be expecting something at that date! but if they say Mixer maybe will be rdy by April 2006 then ppl will understand if they say: Look something went wrong and wont be rdy until MAY! Hey i dont blame Rane for having problems with parts, i think is BS that other companys are not doing their job, since that will cost Rane money, so maybe next time instead of giving a exact date they can use the words: maybe or we are trying to release this product by April, May...etc etc.
Now web sites are also very guilty!! because they want money upfront without having the product in stock! thats bad bad bad..
but Rane cant control the way they do business, I know Rane is doing everything they can to release the product, because at this point they are losing money!

to be fair, this happens all the time with tons of products. companies need to give release dates because consumers demand them. look at all of the posts on this very forum! "when will rane release the ttm57?!?" etc. there's got to be at least 10 different threads demanding a release date. when a company says "listen, we're not completely sure but we're shootng for this date", then customers get upset. when they give a definite date and can't make it, customers get upset. it's a catch-22. and there's no way around it as long as there are components of a product that are dependent on outside vendors (ie. whatever parts rane was waiting for that came late from another factory).
look at the track record. hi-rise stand: late to arrive, lengthy shipping delays. ssl version 1.5: still waiting. so it should come as no suprise that the ttm 57 is a bit later than expected. that's cool, to me, because when it comes out you know it will have the quality that we have come to expect from rane.
think about it this way: how many singles/albums actually come out on the release date that they are supposed to?

It is a lesson not to deal with companies like PSSL. These companies are notorious for pre-selling products which have not even been released.

EVERYBODY was preselling the 57 and they all were quoting the same date,.. the date that Rane gave them when the product was announced. To critisize PSSL for printing the date given to them by Rane is just ridiculous. Did you think they just made up a date to sell some mixers?

I doubt Rane gave out a definite shipping date. The dealers turned that into a fixed shipping date (many dealers not just PSSL).

It seems to be force of habit with many dealers, and I single out PSSL because of they way they lead search engine results ... pick a product that is just demonstrated at NAMM or Musikmesse, and you can guarantee that these dealers will have it advertised and be willing to take your money, with absolutely no idea of when the product will actually be shipped.
Are they dishonest? Probably not ... you'll eventually get the product if it ships. Are they unethical? Yes.

I differ. No one knew that there was even something called a TTM57 or that Rane was working on one. THEY announced it and set the dates hence setting customer expectations. Granted there are bound to be problems along the supply chain, people will still be irked by the delay. The resellers as well got their expectations from Rane. The dealers may have misled folks but they were not doing it from thin air.

We have a rule here at Rane that we don't announce a new product until we know with "reasonable certainty," what the ship date will be. On January 19th, the first day of NAMM when we announced the TTM 57SL for the 1st time, we were "reasonably certain" that all the parts to build the first run would arrive April 14th or 18th. This is what our parts vendors were promising on Janury 18th.
The build date (the date all the parts are here at the factory) has moved several times since January 18th. Currently, it's April 28th. We hope it doesn't change, sometimes it doesn't, most times it does a few days.
I'd like to thank all those who've contributed positive karma to our collective universe & efforts by chanting their positive vibes towards our vendors since they're driving all this stuff.

When are people going to learn enough about modern manufacturing processes to understand what's going on?
Nearly all modern manufacturers maintain a small inventory of parts to build their products. As inventory levels drop parts are ordered in a fashion so that the arrival of the parts occurs just before running out (with a little 'wiggle-room'). This concept is call' JIT - or Just In Time Inventory. Car manufacturers use it just as much as every other manfucturer.
What this means is that as you start preparing to release a new product and the initial testing and prototyping has been done you need to order parts. However, your just in time inventory processes aren't prepared to handle parts you don't normally stock so it takes time to send the specifications on the new parts off to your suppliers, determine an appropriate cost for the parts (including changing suppliers if the cost difference is significant), and then order inventory. If the person you're ordering from doesn't have enough of that item in inventory they need to order more raw materials to make the part and have sufficient time to produce the part you need. This takes time. This is also why it was stated in another thread that if it used all existing parts the product would have already been released.
I do have this to say - a slip of 10-14 days based on original projections more than 3-4 months ago is nothing. It's an inconvience. The fact that a vendor posted that as an expected ship date is their fault - not Rane's. The fact that they didn't update the customers with the fact that the date changed is not Rane's fault. Keep in mind that 28 April is the expected arrival date of parts. Once the parts arrive, are checked in and inspected, they still need to start production. Once production gets started it will likely be another couple days before stock starts shipping to the distributors.
If I ordered a TT57 today I'd not expect to see it until sometime around June.... If it showed up before then I'd be happy as a clam...
BTW, I've worked in the IT departments for a number of manufacturers including dealing with JIT inventory control systems so this isn't entire new territory for me.

Unlike some other companies Rane doesn't have a history of vaporware.... just relax and the product will show as quickly as they can get it out the door. I'm sure the engineers, sales staff, and everyone else at Rane can't wait to get the product shipping and to make a big annoucement.
