hi Steve, sorry to bother u with questions (i'm sure u all are busy working to get this baby finallized):

after looking at this pic (all night, while drool drips to the side of my gaping mouth) i noticed several knobs have a clear spacer underneath... will these be illuminated?

They they illuminate to indicate state. For example, the joysticks are transform switches unless you click them to enable software control. The knobs can control two different parameters, and you click them to alternate.

What is the commitment level of Rane/Serato to keep the TTM57SSL relevant in terms of future SSL updates? Do you treat the SSL within the TTM57 as being a 'real' version of SSL? worthy of upgrades etc. - or is it going to be treated as a 'bundled' LE version with limited future upgradeability?

The same software supports connecting an SL 1 (what most people use), an MP 4, or a TTM 57SL. Some hardware-specific features are only exposed if that hardware is connected. All updates are free, and continue to support all the compatible hardware.

There is a minimum version required for the software to be aware of a particular hardware piece. For the SL 1, it was 1.0. For the MP 4, you needed 1.4. For the TTM 57SL you'll need 1.6.

Thank you Steve W!..for not only answering, but giving me the answer I was hoping to hear. I just sold my 56 to buy the 57 and I needed some reassurance on that so thanks again!

Do you have something to use in the mean time? The 57's are going to be in pretty short supply for the next few months.

No:-( I'm bumming. but I'm a bedroom producer, not a d.j. with gigs, so it was worth it for me to sell my 56 now (I sold it for $40 less than I paid for it 15 months ago.) I haven't bought SSL yet, my studio is flooded already with too many cords & plugs, so the 57 is definitely for me.

but good things come to those who wait right?:)
